a comer-lets eat
I come from a very colorfull family. My mom is from Puerto Rico and my dad is from the Dominican Republic. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico along with my two sister, I am the middle child, the mediator, the ham in the sandwich, the filling in the pie...hahaha I think you get the point.
Growing up in a household where junk food was not an option for the most part and where both parents worked for long hours. They teached us how to cook many meals and we also teached each other since we all had assigned chores every day and one of them was taking turns in making the dinner on weekdays.
Let me tell you a little bit of the family rules that alowed me to learn that food is made to enjoy it, not to judge by it's cover. With this said, I apply the same rules with two beutiful children and if you ask:
-What's for dinner?... "Food"
-What kind of food?... "The kind you eat"
-What if I don't like it?... "you can go to sleep"
-What if I am hungry?... "your plate will be waiting for you"
Of course I didn't like these answers back then but now that I have my own kids... I have to admit that they were soooo right in soooo many levels.
